The Department of Anthropology at UCL is a research-led department with an international reputation, offering innovative teaching programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We are looking to appoint a Teaching Fellow with expertise in medical and biosocial medical anthropology; evidence of high-quality teaching, and a demonstrable commitment to inclusive, research-based education who will contribute to the department’s overall profile to teaching and learning, and student experience.
The Teaching Fellow will be able to teach in the field of medical anthropology and biosocial medical anthropology at masters and undergraduate level. Specifically they will be required to teach optional courses on Aspects of Applied Medical Anthropology and also co-teach core courses for Intercalated IBSc in Medical Anthropology for medical students.
This post is funded for three years in the first instance with a start date of January 2020.
The successful candidate will hold or be soon to be awarded a PhD in a subject relevant to medical/biosocial medical anthropology. They will have comprehensive knowledge of subject matter being taught, a track record, or potential to build a track record, of an innovative and reflective teaching practice with demonstrated impact.
The candidate will have communication and interpersonal skills appropriate for teaching, supervision, leadership and administration. They will have proven ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines, and ability to deliver and develop programmes of teaching in the areas outlined in the job description.
