Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA) Meeting

The theme for this year’s Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA) Meeting is Intersections. Kerry Feldman, Terre Satterfield, and Stephen Langdon, this year’s conference Co-Chairs, wrote a wonderful description of this year’s conference theme which can be viewed here: (http://www.sfaa.net/annual-meeting/theme-program-committee/).  For example, they talk about the intersections between applied work and fields such as biology and medicine. In addition, we can think about how researchers intersect with their participants in their investigations, and how participants are involved in knowledge construction.

The Society for Medical Anthropology (SMA) is one of the co-sponsors of the Vancouver, Canada meeting which will be held from March 29th to April 2nd 2016. In addition, the Council on Nursing and Anthropology (CONAA), Political Ecology Society (PESO), Culture and Agriculture section of the AAA, Centre for Imaginative Ethnography, and Society for Anthropological Sciences (SAS) are co-sponsors of the meeting, adding to the diversity of conversations that will occur. We encourage you to use the SMA listserv (aaa_sma@binhost.com) for sharing ideas for and organizing SMA-sponsored sessions or events. Please consider organizing sessions that would listed as a SMA-sponsored session at the conference. If you submit a SMA session, please remember to mark SMA when you submit the abstract.

The abstract deadline is October 15th and the link for submitting abstracts is: http://www.sfaa.net/annual-meeting/abstract-submission/
