Job: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Anthropology, University of Southern Mississippi

The University of Southern Mississippi’s Department of Anthropology and Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of medical anthropology to join our anthropology program in August 2015.  The successful applicant will have a 3/3 teaching load, maintain an active research agenda, and provide service to the department, university, discipline and/or community.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in anthropology with a focus in medical anthropology by time of appointment and evidence of productive research agenda.  The specialization area within medical anthropology is open, but we are most interested in those with a biocultural approach. We particularly encourage applicants with research and teaching interests that complement those of current faculty and strengthen the existing dual-degree master’s program with public health. Preference will be given to candidates who can build collaborative relationships with other programs and/or the community.

Applicants must complete an employment application located on the University of Southern Mississippi Human Resources website at www.usm.edu/hr. Through the HR website, applicants must also submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, statement of research interests, three letters of recommendation, and copies of official transcripts. Review of applications will begin on October 6, 2014, and will continue until finalists are selected. The University of Southern Mississippi is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer/Americans with Disabilities Act Institution.

As an Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity employer/Americans with Disabilities Act institution, The University of Southern Mississippi encourages minorities, women, veterans and persons with disabilities to apply.
