Society for Medical Anthropology: career achievement award report 2004
There were four nominees for the inaugural Career Achievement Award this year. The committee consisted of Robert Rubinstein, Linda Hunt, Laurence Cohen, and Linda-Anne Rebhun. After much discussion, we chose Cecil Helman, and decided to keep the other three nominees’ files active for the next two years.
The committee would like to modify the wording of the award announcement to attract more senior scholars, as all of this year’s nominees were in their 50’s. Some of the professors emeritus who helped to found the field of medical anthropology should be considered for this award.
