POSITION DESCRIPTION: Program Coordinator
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Program Manager
WORK SCHEDULE: To begin mid to late January 2013; Monday – Friday 9‐5pm (occasional overtime during implementation of activities)
SALARY:  Mid 40s plus benefits

ABOUT HSHPS: Hispanic‐Serving Health Professions Schools (HSHPS) is a 501(c)3 member based non‐profit organization that strives to improve the health of Hispanics through academic development, research initiatives, and training.
Established in 1996, HSHPS addresses the mounting public health issues of providing quality and culturally competent healthcare to Hispanics living in the United States. HSHPS collaborates with its members (20 medical schools and 8 schools of public health), government agencies, hospitals, and other organizations to provide an array of services to students, educators, professionals, researchers, and administrators which include: Graduate Fellowship Training Program; National Mentorship Program; Faculty Development Workshops; and Data and Research Workshops.

SUMMARY: HSHPS is looking for a Program Coordinator who can implement the Graduate Fellowship Training Programs and assist the Program Manager in implementing the National Mentorship Program and Data Workshop. The
ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree and have experience placing students in internships, implementing faculty development activities, and submitting grants to potential funders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

PROGRAMS  
Graduate Fellowship Training Programs
o Logistics: coordinate orientation and closing sessions; staff travel; mentor recruitment;
mentor/supervisor project match; fellows’ requirements; promoting programs in
collaboration with communications intern; finalize housing
o Collaborate with external evaluators to ensure evaluation surveys are completed and issues are addressed yearly
o Draft cost‐analysis of program expenses
o Submit quarterly reports to ensure adherence to all federal guidelines
o Create yearly Action Plan for programs
o Other duties as assigned by PM

National Mentorship Program
o Logistics: coordinate orientation and closing sessions; arrange mentee lecture series; mentor recruitment and matching; mentees’ requirements; promoting program; and grant travel awards
o Collaborate with PM and external evaluators to ensure evaluation surveys are completed and issues are addressed yearly
o Submit quarterly reports to ensure adherence to all federal guidelines  to Assist PM with creating yearly Action Plan for programs
o Other duties as assigned by PM

Data Workshop
o Collaborate with PM and external evaluators to ensure evaluation surveys are completed
and issues are addressed yearly
o Assist PM to submit quarterly reports to ensure adherence to all federal guidelines
o Assist PM to create yearly Action Plan for programs
o Assist PM to submit applications for continuing education credits
o Other duties as assigned by PM

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES
 Assist PM identify and submit grants
 Other duties as assigned by PM

ELIGIBILITY:
 Must have a Master’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Project Management, Higher Education, health degree, or human resources
 Must have at least five (5) years of work experience, preferably in higher education, health, academia/faculty development, workforce issues, internship placements, etc.
 Must feel comfortable giving oral presentations and networking

 Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Google Applications
 Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize assignments, and without close supervision
 Must have excellent organizational skills and be detailed oriented
 Professional and friendly attitude toward work, staff, and visitors
 Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills
 Demonstrate flexibility to switch to different priorities
