Assistant Professor, Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

The Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is recruiting one or more tenure-track faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful applicant will apply a life course perspective in pursuing innovative research addressing an area of reproductive, perinatal, child, adolescent or women’s health. Scholarship will be evidenced by contributions to the scientific literature and increasing recognition in her/his field of interest. The selected individual will be encouraged to build on the existing strength of the faculty within the Department, and as appropriate, work with faculty across the School and the University while building an independent research portfolio. Emphasis will be placed on graduate teaching and student advising as core responsibilities. Departmental resources and faculty mentorship will support the establishment of an externally funded research program. A doctoral degree in public health, biology, psychology, social science, medicine, demography, or related fields is required.

The faculty is multi-disciplinary and has a broad and diverse research, practice and teaching portfolio. The Department is home to nine Centers and large research and practice initiatives. A lifecourse perspective with a focus on the health of populations links our work and is fundamental to the Department’s mission. The Department’s graduate education program attracts the best and brightest students both domestically and internationally. Graduates in the Department pursue careers as research scientists, public health interventionists and evaluators who actively contribute to the scientific literature and assume important academic posts and public health leadership globally.

The successful applicant, consistent with the mission of the Department, will establish an externally funded research program, participate in the educational program and contribute to the life of the School and the University. Candidates with domestic or international experience are invited to apply.
