Assistant Professor, Department of Anthropology, Western Washington University

The Department of Anthropology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin September 2016. The successful candidatewill have a Ph.D., specializing in applied anthropology and human health with aPacific Rim geographic focus. Demonstrated scholarship, including experienceconducting community-based research in indigenous communities, strong writtenand interpersonal communication skills and an interest in helping students developcommunication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with diversestudents and colleagues are necessary. Courses to be taught include appropriate peoples courses, quantitative methods, applied anthropology, as well as more specialized courses in the major, interdisciplinary and graduate programs.

High quality teaching is emphasized, but research and engagement in service are also expected. Experience in applied health, emphasis on China, andinterdisciplinary teaching experience are preferred.
