Critical Anthropology of Global Health
A Message From the Chair
I have been the coordinator for almost 5 years now and feel it is time for new leadership. The SIG is in excellent shape. In the last five years we have convened three successful takes a stand initiatives, have increased the number of Virchow award submissions substantially and have a well functioning award committee, and a web site which serves the SIG.
Candidates for the position should submit their names and CVs to Ben McMahan (bmcmahan@email.arizona.edu)…He will post them on the CAGH SMA page for section review, and we will ask for additional candidates at the meeting. We will then vote by email so that members who cannot attend the meeting get an equal chance to vote.
We are scheduled to have our open meeting Thursday, November 17, 2011: 12:15-13:30 (room: TBD). In addition to voting, group members who are interested in forming the next ad hoc takes a stand group should come with a short statement or argument for the theme, as we will use part of the meeting time to determine which theme we want to sponsor next (reminder, we choose one theme to work on at a time).
