  • Helman, Cecil, BBC "Book of the Week", for Suburban Shaman: Tales from Medicine's Frontline (Hammersmith Press, 2006). The book willl be serialized and broadcast nationally on BBC Radio from March 6-10, 2006.
  • Gay Becker, Robert B. Textor and Family Award for Excellence in Anticipatory Anthropology, 2002 for her book, The Elusive Embryo: How Men and Women Approach New Reproductive Technologies (2000).

  • Arthur Kleinman, Franz Boas Award for Distinguished Service to Anthropology, 2002
