The Karl Mannheim Chair for Cultural Studies invites applications for a Doctoral Position
  • We are seeking to appoint for a three year period an excellent doctoral student to help and contribute to a new EU 'Science in Society' Research Project, "Health Matters: A Social Science and Ethnographic Study of Patient and Professional Involvement in and Representations of the Governance of Health and Medical Knowledge Production (HealthGovMatters)" headed by Jacquelyne Luce, Ph.D. Experience in ethnographic and interview-based research in the areas of health technologies and gender studies is desired.

Intern, National Association of Mental Health Planning and Advisory Councils (NAMHPAC)
  • The intern will assist with project coordination activities. Tasks may include helping to research material for presentations and technical assistance activities, and managing logistics associated with meetings and travel. Research supporting brochure development on topics related to mental health may also be part of the internship. The intern may also assist with website development and maintenance and database management. The intern is required to work at least 3 days a week. Global Health Council
  • The mission of the Global Health Council is to promote better health around the world by assisting all who work for improvement and equity in global health to secure the information and resources they need to work effectively. The Global Health Council internship program hopes to offer students enjoyable, and unique learning experiences in advocating and supporting programs that improve health around the world. We understand that some schools have strict internship requirements for earning credits. The Council's internship program is fairly flexible, therefore, we will be able to work with the students to meet their internship requirements. The primary requirement is that you have a commitment to make a measurable difference with your time and energy in the area of global health. There is always "grunt" work to do in any endeavor, but we want the vast majority of your time to be spent achieving goals agreed to prior to the beginning of your internship.
    Internship Opportunities: The Global Health Council has three positions that are available in our DC office and four positions in our White River Junction, Vermont office. These internships run on a rotating schedule during the Fall semester, the Spring semester and over the summer.

    Minimum Requirement: An investment of at least 30 hours per week is required for the internship program. This is a 12-week internship program.
    Stipend: The Global Health Council offers its interns a stipend of $200/month. Depending upon when the internship commences, pro-rated pay may occur. The Council does not provide any other benefits to its interns (i.e. sick time, vacation time, health insurance, etc.)

  • Interns will work closely with staff to research policy issues, analyze legislation and assist with administrative work. We will be happy to work with students to obtain credit towards coursework.
